Dear Child,

they're asking us to move.

A quick post, an update on a couple of new albums expected at the end of the year.
Saosin have announced that they'll be releasing their second LP, a follow up to the grey, that they released last year.
And, whilst we're on the subject of Saosin, Circa Survive have began recording their new album this month which is due out Septemberish this year.
Exciting ^_^
And! Arctic Monkeys have revealed the album art for Humbug, which I blogged about earlier :

I'm off to get tattood again now.
Check in later, for pictures and such.

The time has come, again

slowly walking down the steps.
To places that he'd been, if only they were seventeen.

So, it’s been a while. And I apologize. Apparently the very reason I started this blog is now thwarting my blogging and its very instance.
However, I come with lots and lots of lovely music news. A storage bank of beautiful gifts for you all.
I write this now, listening to Placebo’s Meds – classic album no doubt. But I think it’s good and healthy to re-visit past loved music. I’m not really talking about classics anymore, though. I’m talking more about guilty pleasures. Songs you know you probably shouldn’t be groovin’ along too, but simply can’t help yourself. My dear baby ipod is a little sick, perhaps it has caught the swine flu. But while it is ill, I have taken loan of my best friend’s ipod. Our music taste’s do not differ that much, but she is like a music hoarder. All those one hit wonders, random songs you loved when you were 14 and into r n’b (theoretically) you will find on her ipod. And so I bring your attention to Ja Rule. Oh Ja rule, murder inc. Who could forget you!? There is a particular song I was obsessed with when I was around the 15 yr old stage, Always on Time ft. Ashanti. So imagine my joy when I found this gem on her ipod! ^_^ - my face.

“C'mon and get a piece of this late-night lover
You know, the one that swing dick like no other” How I’ve missed the lyrical genius of Ja Rule. It get’s better though,
‘Thug style, you never thought I'd make you smile
While I'm smackin’ your ass and fuckin’ you all wild
[With Ashanti] But we share something’ so rare, but who cares, you care’.

WHAT A SONG. It actually doesn’t make sense. It’s like some bizarre gangster love song where Ja Rule constantly references how he drugs up other women and refers to his girlfriend and ‘bitch’. Charming.
So that’s what I’ve been doing with my time. Reacquainting myself with Ja Rule.

But Anyway! I promised I would have a storage bank of new music for you all to jump on and I’m not one to give an empty promise.
So here it goes:

Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest, this album took a while to grow on me, but if you were to download one track from the album, TWO WEEKS. It’s soft, and passionate and brilliant. This band has absolutely captured the sound of 09. I adore it.

Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse – Dark Night Of The Soul – AM-A-ZING. Standout track is definitely Little Girl ft. Julian Casablancas from the Strokes. It’s smart, and suave. Up until this point in time, I have been lacking in musical hunger. Like when you’re craving something and you don’t know what you want, and you’re not satisfied until you find that something, well this album is the something. It’s amazing.

Placebo – Battle For The Sun. Something to fill the satisfactory void. Not brilliant, but not bad. Album title track is the best off the album.

Red Riders – Ordinary & You’ve Got A Lot Of Nerve from Drown In Colour. Haven’t heard the entirety of the album yet, but am extremely excited because the two singles are quite good. You’ve got a lot of nerve is better than ordinary which is a little worrying because I patiently anticipated the brilliance of their last album Reptilia & was extremely disappointed, but their sound has matured, so we can only help their 2nd album has too.

NoFX – These guys are always good. Creepin’ out Sara is currently on repeat. Fucking hilarious song.

ARCTIC MONKEYS NEWS!!!!!!!!
Finally, the ever waiting bomb has been dropped! ‘Humbug’ is the title of their third album which is to be released August 24th. I am pretty fucking excited. Track listing is of this:
1. My Propeller
2. Crying Lightning
3. Dangerous Animals
4. Secret Door
5. Potion Approaching
6. Fire And The Thud
7. Cornerstone
8. Dance Little Liar
9. Pretty Visitors
10. The Jeweller’s Hands

The album will be available on CD, vinyl and via digital download.

And on a slightly unhappier note – new taking back Sunday actually sucks. I don’t want to harp on too much about it, because it actually hurts me to think about. I adored that band, but their new stuff is just lazy. And I’m not just saying it to be agreeable either. I give every band I listen to a chance, and I loved this band, they were a definitive part of my high school years, but holy shit. Adam’s vocals just seem to be pressing to the level of expectancy, there seems to be a lack between his mind & song. I can’t describe it. It just seems as if they pushed out an album because it was expected, and most of it is utter rubbish.

Lily Allen – The Forum, Melbourne.
So I was lucky enough to wrangle myself a ticket to her sold out show last night last minute. And I am so glad. Although I am battling sickness and debated whether I should leave my humble abode, I am ever so glad I did. And I was freaked out, because she is one of my idols, despite the fact I wasn’t overly impressed with ‘it’s not me, it’s you’ I still love her, and I had heard reports from all over the place that she is rubbish live and her shows are shit etc. Well the reports were on crack because honestly, it was brilliant. Cassette Kids were support, which is a shame, because despite the fact they looked absolutely fucking ridiculous with whatever look they were trying to put on, the lead singer sounded as if she had been taking singing lessons from drowning cats. My ears felt like bleeding after their set, but it was worth it for Lily. She was smiling and dancing and putting in her all, and she sounded quite good live, too. A bit disappointed with the lack of track appearances from ‘alright, still’, but she closed with some weird womanizer/day n’ nite cover and she was just perfect really. That, and she’s a massive babe. I doubt she could actually do too much wrong really. Perhaps I’m not the most open minded on the journalism front when it comes to Lily Allen.
I think that is all the news I have. Now that I am on holidays from that ridiculously expensive institution that is my university, the frequency in which I blog will be back up to speed!

If you can't beat 'em

join 'em.

Why hello dear friends, I, once again have neglected my wonderful webspace in favour of a busy life.
But even if I did have the time to blog, admist working and studying, there wouldn't be much to blog about.

So I was out the other night, at the rochester (where else), and I was talking to some guy about why I like the arctic monkeys.
The guy was a complete tosser, he had the whole "money is the only thing in life that can make you happy" and his life was all about encompassing that.
Fair enough, what ever floats your boat.
So I told him that I was poor, but I'm still happy.
"How can that be?" he asked me, with glooming, dooming eyes.
And I replied "I have music."

Blah Blah Blah he goes on about music until we hit arctic monkeys.
He couldn't understand why I loved them so much, but didn't have the same enthusiasm for the beatles.
Well, I adore the beatles, but arctic are my soul. Why does that need to be explained?
What I love about arctic, and all music infact, is the feeling I get when I encapsulate myself into it. With every record I listen to, I remember exactly where I was, what sort of mindset I was in and what I was feeling when I first heard it. It's powerful, nostalgic stuff.
And as long as I can have that, I'm going to be extremely happy.

He wasn't satisfied with that answer, I wasn't satisfied with him.
Having said all that, this is my music blog, so now I'm gonna tell you about some cool new music you should check out.
OK, while recently I have been giving some old fave's a new spin (The last shadow puppets, adoreeeeeee, black plant has been on repeat all week), I have discovered some pretty rockin' new stuff to check out.
Bat for lashes - Daniel, very gazy, seeping stuff. The filmclip is amazing.
The Gossip - Heavy Cross - Catchy brilliance, and I don't even like that band too much.
Iron and Wine have released an album of b sides and rarities to tide us over until the release of their new one in 2010, it's quite subtle listening, worth a couple of spins.
Other than that though my lovelies, I haven't too much to report on the music front.
With the splendour line-up having been announced (bloc party again? eugh.) and no more word in 2010 BDO, it's all dry here!

But, I do have one announcement to make, and that is that I am going to the land of alex turner. England.
4 months of english bliss, i'm pretty excited, and no doubt I'll be blogging about all crazy types of music scenes when I'm over there.
Totally excited.
Anyway, I'm off to uni. The tedious place of learning.

wolves evolve

Hello friends.
I am sorry, again, for my absence. I have been a very busy bee (geddit, 'coz my name is Bel.. my nickame is B). The easter break sees me gallavanting away to the land of Newtown for a while. I'm going to check out some sydney culture, I'm a bit over Melbourne at the minute.

As I promised... touring rumours! I am full of them aren't I.. well, Lily Allen - what a clever girl. She did a round of press here recently following the release of her second album 'It's not me, it's you' (I gave a mini review in one of my earlier posts) and then tickets for her show went on sale and sold out rather quickly, so she announced a second show, which has also sold out. But! Sources tell me she could (most definiately) be in talks with organizers of the BDO. So she could potentially be one of the international acts on the bill for the 2010 BDO. Exciting!! Well, i'm excited.. considering I missed out on tickets to her show. (Although, being as media savvy as I am I'm hopin/begging to wrangle some from somewhere). The BDO rumour mill is flying around this time of year, last post I wrote about Bruce Springsteen as a potential headliner, but along with him and Lily Allen, it is also very likely Muse could rock up on the bill. Although they did play the 2007 BDO, they have a new album due out later this year and sources tell me they're keen to come back to Oz.
Speaking of new albums, Alexisonfire has a release date for 'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' which will be released her in australia through dine alone records (no shock there) on June 23rd.
I am freaking excited.

Now, a little while ago I remember I was all over town saying The Basics had broken up. Well, that's what I heard. But! They just released a new single "With This Ship" (Which, a new music radio show called new and approved on syn had access to about the same time last year, the band appeared on the show for their subscriberthon and instead of donating money to the station, they donated the world premiere of their new single)
A couple of weeks later, I interviewed them at Moonee Valley Youth Fest and asked about their new album, which had pushed its release date back a bit. Now, almost a year later... still no album.. but new single.
I thought that Wally was doing a Pete Murray with his solo project Gotye and moving to another country because this one didn't appreciate the music he makes, I heard that Kris' gf went to Ireland and he was going off with her, and Tim was still up in Sydney with his gf Triple J's/Frankie magazine's Marieke Hardy... and word on the street was an obvious break up was on the cards.
However, they re-packaged and re-released their first album 'Get Back'... and now the release of this single.
So now, the music industry has their ears out for them.. making them very hot news. And it's all so clever.
At uni right now I study media (obviously), and one of my minors is Public Relations, and everyone asks me why and how I can do that as a minor, and how it is relevant to my passion for the music industry. I think the music industry holds PR in their back pocket as a last resort to generate excitement about the music, rather than the excitement of the music itself. And look how it's worked for not only the Basics, but also Lily Allen. They're so hot right now, all because of clever PR.
I find it all veryyyyyyyy interesting.

Moving on! V-fest hit melbourne on saturday and I was lucky enough to go along. I'm not going to do a full-winded review or anything.. I don't think it was worthy of a huge mention in my blog. I mean, the line - up was extremely dire in comparison to last year. In my opinion, they should have spread last year and this years line up over the two years, because so many good bands played last year you couldn't see them all, yet this year I just had hours of laying on the grass dismally because there were no bands worth seeing. I have to say though, Duffy was absolutely amazing. Not only talent wise, but holy shit she is good looking. She was absolutely stunning, the entire performance was great. And although the set list was rather dismal, the killers were actually brilliant. Obviously Mr.Brightside united the crowd who just rushed over from snow patrol (ew) to see them. Children Collide were also ridiculously good, considering they followed novelty act vanilla ice. I don't think the promoters knew how popular that dude would be, they had him on some tiny stage and the entire shed thing was just absolutely packed out. Kaiser Cheifs were ok too I guess, the lead singer is such a wanker though.
Anyway, I mean it was a pretty decent day, the line up was just so shit compared to last year.

I'm pretty sure that's all I have to tell you this week.
Keep watching from stories of Sydney.
Also, check out Eskimo Joe's new single, it's on high rotation spin on triple J at the minute.. Eskimo Joe are great, I was a lil dissapointed with their last album but I'm digging the vibe of this new single.
I'm not expecting much though.
If you don't exoect much, then you can't be too dissapointed now, can you?

E.S.T

Hello dearest friends,
almost a month since I have graced your browsers with my random blogs.
I have been a busy girl, my apologies.
I started uni and had a workload of crazy clips to ingest at C31.
I'm also writing a short story, creating a radio program and gallavanting around Melbourne reviewing gigs and festivals.
So, old news now but The Getaway Plan have broken up. Sources tell me that all members have side projects, Clint has been jamming with kevin (ex-behind crimson eyes) and Matt wants to work on a solo project with his gf, who is also in a band. Speaking of behind crimson eyes, after reports of apparently being unhappy with their last album due to the 'too heavy a metal' sounding record, they have released a follow up that has been gaining a lot of praise around town. I, however, don't see why. That is because, however, I am ignorant and don't like that band.
Anyway! Speaking of roaming round town, I was doing some media shiz at pushover a couple of weeks ago. I will forever protest my love for that festival. 2006, Luna Park, the getaway plan and parkway played to many adoring underage fans, most of which are now overage - myself included. So knowing of the underage festivities I didn't think I would enjoy it. Pretentious bullshit aside, I rediscovered the love I have for pushover, it's a festival that does not try to be anything else. Children collide were a definite highlight, despite the energy inconsistancy I felt their set was very grunge, very suave. And parkway drive fucking rocked. Whether you like hardcore/metal/whatever the fuck you genrelise them, when a band can create a set so hot you see the heat rising from the punters, you know they're fucking great.
Again, re-assuring me that way back in 2006 when I got bruised ribs from watching their set front of barrier, my pain was well worth it.

Speaking of well worth it, big day out this year. I didn't blog about it, I had far too much to say. But it was great. Many industry insiders say it was the presence of Neil Young. I would have to agree. I love big day, I love that you can have a hardcore 50 minutes of arctic monkeys pumping, and then on the next stage neil young and his hundred year old entourage can rock out in a chilled way.
Rolling with that theme, bgo headliner rumour for 2010 is Bruce Springsteen.
This may come as a suprise to many of you, but good ol' brucey is on the verge of a new release. I would know, I just ingested his new video clip the other day (which, by the way, is the classic band-in-studio-recording-song-oblivious-to-camera-lets-all-laugh-and-sing) brilliance really. The line up of this year will be hard to beat, but with or without bruce, I doubt it will dissapoint.

In other rumour headliner news, it is believe UK trio Friendly Fires will, alongside White Lies (E.S.T is an amazing song on the album and title of this blog entry - listen to it! it is amazing!) will play splendour in the grass. If so, be sure to see me there, as those two bands have producer probably two of the greatest albums over the last year. 07 line-up was stellar, 08 was pretty good, rolling with this theme I'm hoping 09 will top them, although 07 had arctic monkeys, so hardly.

No news on the new arctic album my friends. Alas, I too are shattered. Sources tell me it's not finished, that was to why the big media freeze when they were here in jan. They're playing a bunch of festivals in europe over the next couple of months. So i'm just randomly guessing the new album will pop up at the end of this year.

That, for now, is all. I think I may catch up on some blog posts I have saved here from the last months. My computer is in the middle of a mid life crisis at the minute so you will have to excuse my inconsistancy.
I will leave you with this...
V festival 08 was the greatest line up ever. nothing in my opinion could ever beat it. I do, however, have a free ticket and will be attending this year despite the appalling line up so stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for the lead up to that.
I'll also have some news on Moonee Valley fest, The Basics, a review of Kings Of Leon and general stories from my life.

slow hands.

Ny friends back home.
Many months later.
Now,
as much or as often as we used to.
communicate.
And i think part of that is because of our different life choices.

I was watching Max's alternative top 100 countdown today.
Max as in the music channel, not some random dude.
Anyway, I was pretty impressed. I thought it would be some lame interpretation of "alternative". Like coldplay or some shit.
But jane's addiction, jesus and the mary chain, smashing pumpkins and oasis made an appearance.
So this has led me to compile a list of my favourite songs of all time.
but gossip girl is about to come on so it's probably not going to be overly thorough.
And probably not a complete list either.
anyway here we go.
And i'm going to go from my favourite first, because I - unlike channel V, don't want you to wait around watching shit bands just to get to that last good one, all for the wanker who put the show together to forget to ingest the most important clip.
OK my rant is referring to Jane's (presenter from channel V) top live song countrdown from this years big day out. Naturally Arctic monkeys were here fave, she chose to show their cover of nick caves red right hand... and then she's all "here it is" and the fucking idiot ingester at channel v is all... actually here's an add break.
I'm still bitter, I sat through an hour of her shit choices with no result.
Anyway:
coming in at #1 - 505 - Arctic Monkeys (no suprise there)
(there's not really an order now, it's just that song is my ultimate favourite)
my mistakes were made for you - the last shadow puppets (ok well that is actually second favourite so bit of an order)
like a drug - queens of the stone age
lovesong - the cure
miss you love - silverchair
rest my chemistry - interpol
accidents - alexisonfire
naive - the kooks
knocked up - kings of leon
get free- the vines
wonderwall - oasis
i'm only happy when it rains - garbage
karma police - radiohead
i want you (she's so heavy) - the beatles
last nite - the strokes
one eighty by summer - taking back sunday
smells like teen spirit - nirvana
honey - jesus and the mary chain
girl and the sea - the presets
love will tear us apart - joy division
song 2 - blur
translating the name - saosin
knock 'em out - lily allen
believe in your man - little red
my love is stronger than your love - red riders
the comeback - the holidays
how strongs my love - the greasers
strings - the getaway plan
the spaces between- expatriate
smoke - eskimo joe
die - iron and wine
this years love - david gray
linger - the cranberries
welcome home - coheed and cambria
sometimes - city & colour
disintegration - jimmy eat world
farewell rocketship - children collide
handshakes at sunrise - circa survive
blitzkrieg bop - the ramones
homewrecker - damn arms
the course of human life - the early november
believe me natalie - the killers
special - mew
time is running out - muse
gone away - the offpsring
a girl in port - okkervil river
fuck the pain away - peaches
pink bullets - the shins
america- simon and garfunkle
dreams - fleetwood mac

basically these are the songs i want played at my funeral or my wedding.
probably both.
I wanted to know what other peoples lists were.
I know my wedding song will definately be either my mistakes were made for you, or like a drug. It would be interesting to see what other people's could potentially be.

Erika La Teur Eiffel.

>

So what better way to spend Valentines day then to sit at home watching documentary’s on SBS about people who fall in love with objects.

Because it’s not bad enough you’re sitting at home on valentines day watching sbs, probably by yourself, but instead of the usual porn they start serving up around nightfall, they plague you with the visions of what you will become, if you stay at home alone on valentines day watching sbs.

YOU WILL BECOME A LONER WHO FALLS IN LOVE WITH OBJECTS.

Like Erika La Teur Eiffel.

As in Erika Eiffel Tower.

This lady named Erika, married the Eiffel tower.

And a year after their anniversary - consumated the marriage... in public.

Speaking of getting new tattoos in yesterdays post, the lady has an effeil tower tattoo in between her boobs.

What a freaking winner.

I mean, I’d just about start giving up on life when I referred to a bow and arrow as lance.. and then go on to further say

“Lance knows he’s attractive… but it’s not just his… ah… aesthetics that I find appealing.”

I think it must be his awesome personalty, that Lance, good ol’ Lance… What a bow and arrow he is. What an object.

Anyway originally she was with the golden gate bridge, this is how the whole documantery starts – cue her clutching onto a piece of the bridge, talking about how she feels when she ‘makes love’ to it.

I have a couple of links to the documentary – it really is a must see.

part one: http://www.veoh.com/search/videos/q/eiffel#watch%3Dv15067234mmpcQ7Xm

part two: http://www.veoh.com/search/videos/q/eiffel#watch%3Dv15067244KY8AePDW

(thanks to http://thenoisingmachine.wordpress.com for the links)

And as I sat there watching it, it instilled a new kind of fear in me.

Here I was freaking out I’m going to end up old, bitter and alone,

but worse, I could end up in love with my fence or something.

Forget:

What we need people, Is:

OBJECT PEACE.

She leaves a note to say

"I can't believe we ever thought this would work.
I hate you.'
He slips it into his wallet, in the back pocket, right behind his drivers license.
Let this be a reminder, he thought to himself,
to never get too close again.
Then, we can find a way back.

It's definately been one of those weeks.
I don't want to bore everyone with the details,
I just wish I didn't have to keep learning things the hard way.
Ah well, on the upside I got offered a bar managing job at the alley bar, which runs rock royalty on friday and saturday nights. So that could be interesting.
As well as joining SYN's Freeza committee for 2009, which i'm ridiculously excited about.
So far we have ideas for a travelling art show, teaching people how to DJ, makes zines.. really awesome stuff so it's going to be a good year.
And uni starts soon! Woooooooo.
And I can tell you that Kings of Leon will be playing the Bushfire Appeal Fundraising concert at the mcg on March 14th.
They're playing a show at rod laver that night too, so the insiders tell me they'll duck over early and play 2 or 3 songs then bail back to rod laver.
Some new music you should check out this week would be Eugine Mcguiness, The View's 2nd album 'Which Bitch?' and Seawolf's 'You're a Wolf"
Whilst we're on the topic of new music, Lily Allen's 'It's Not Me, It's You' - thoughts?
I adored her first album and the singles from this one seemed quite promising.. but I dunno..
I found this album lacking a little bit, I enjoy it I just found it a little repitive after a while.
Although:
"Now I lie here in the wet patch, in the middle of the bed
i'm feeling pretty damn hard done by I spent ages giving head,
then i remember all the nice things that you ever said to me,
maybe i'm just over-reacting maybe you're the one for me.
There's just one thing, that's getting in the way
When we go up to bed you're just no good it's such a shame...'
pretty much proves she's one of the greatest song writers of our time.
And she's my absolute hero.
It would be interesting to hear what other people think of that album though.
Right now I'm spinning Armen Firmen's 'Porch Dweller' and The Streets' 'Dry Your Eyes Mate'
I'm also drawing up some designs for my new tattoos, I want to add to my tina darling peice, however I'm feeling to add to my half sleeve arm I'm going to stick to the rockabilly theme, really classical, I just don't know whether to add to my other wrist or not. I have some really amazing peices by Fafi I'd love to get done, it's just where.
So many decisions!
Anyway, I'm off to playlist for channel 31's Get Cereal TV next week, expect a lot of Eugine Mcguiness.
Chow,
Bella xx.

Today

I returned to the box,
the box being television.
I did a one off hosting gig for 1700 as a favour for the exec as he is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met, but that's another story.
Anyway I was supringsly nervous, you'd think about 4 years of tv/radio presenting/producing/directing/exec producing I'd have it down pat by now, but I'm sort of taking comfort in the fact I fucked up. It's grounded me a lot, I'm not actually as awesome as I've lead myself to believe.
It wasn't a major fuck up or anything, I just fumbled a bit. Life goes on.
Anyway I started reminising about my old 1700 days. And I had to prepare for an interview with the scissor file (which by the way, the dude I interviewed implied we had met before, perhaps in a more 'intimate' setting, but I completely didn't remember and now I look like a whore and it was really embarrasing.) and I started thinking about my favourite ever band interview.
Not favourite because there were kick ass questions or anything, but favourite as in the most entertaining:
Three words my friends:
RISE AND SHINE.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11TQqSEpF8E
and again

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oezop18BRWM

if you couldn't get enough the first time...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENrNlOaBxg0

I would actually put the videos up myself if I knew how to.
Ps - I totally don't look like that anymore, I was 16 - keep that in mind!
Bella

Pressing lips, feeel a smile coming;
she pulls away, he whispers,
'I haven't been this happy in a while.'
'Good.'

Last night

sheeeeeeeeeeeee said, oh baby I feel so down.

What happened to the good ol' saturday nights?
"so.. what do you do n' shit?"
charming, because that makes me want to talk to you now. Original and modernised.
"I sell wine. Well I drink wine. So that's basically the same"
Really? I was under the impression that selling something and drinking it was completely different but hey, what would I know?
For those playing at home, that was our male interaction at the rochester,
this is what has become of our saturday nights:
"I would do both of you." - at the same time!?
few hours later, different guy:
"If only you were blonde I would do you."
Oh, if only.
I actually don't know what it takes to have a decent night out anymore.
I would like to say friday was better, but unfortunately the peninsula is hung up on being scene.
And I hate going out and feeling/looking pretentious because I don't want to talk to anyone,
but if every conversation I have involves people telling me I could be a stripper or having to explain french to people then I'd rather just sit in the corner listening to music and soaking up everyone else's atmosphere.
Am I sounding like a complete dick right now? Well good.

Sweet Leaf - Alexisonfire & this story from picaresque #9 - Brendan rocks.

65.
Matthew Werry wasn't a particularly well-liked member of his year level, so he decided to kill himself.
He climbed up on the roof of stawell Secondary's Gold Reef campus, and was
preparing to jump. A few of us had gathered around at this point.
We waited a while. He didn't seem to be doing anything.
Someone from the crown began to offer their encouragement. Someone else joined in. Pretty soon the whole bunch of us were telling him to jump. Bear in mind this was a small country town, not New York, and suicide was an incomprehensible concept that only occurred somewhere else. I reckon, though, that at this point he knew exactly what to do. "Screw you guys", he must've thought, "I'm not going to fucking do anything you fucking tell me." He gave us all the finger and I climbed down. We can all learn something from Matthew Werry, I reckon. When all hope seems lost, when all of your friends have turned into fuckwits and any dream you ever had of actually enganging in reciprocal contact with the opposite sex dissipated into the air between you and the concrete, you will always have spite. And what better reason could you have to go on living.

Valentines Day

Somewhere out there, there is a huge pile of marbles.
Maybe a marble city, where all the marbles go when they get lost.
They would live a happily retired life, have dinner parties, long,
meaningful conversations, fall in love and have children.
One day the grown up marbles would eventually kiss Ma and Pa
goodbye and go out into the wide world to be discovered.
Stumbled upon by mere mortals that would examine them,
question them and treasure them. But the cycle must continue and
the marbles are destined to be lost, to slip out of the hole in the
pocket of a pair of old jeans, to be thrown at another in a fit of
passion. They would somehow make their way home, chipped and
lacking the shine they were born with, but content.

If so many people are losing their marbles
these days, why hasn't anyone been able to
trace the paths of thousands of marbles
migrating back to where they came from?

Happy Valentines day.

I cut my hair the other day

It has hung there for months like a horse's tail, or pony's tail,
swinging from side to side and I whinnied down the footpath.
After my hair was cut, and I fingered the bristles at the back
of my neck, I stood in front of the mirror for a little while,
wanting to hack at salon layers with a pair of blunt scissors.
After I dyed it, I wanted to dye it again, so it would be
the deepest red possible and I could watch the
water trickle bloodlike down the drain. I wanted to chew at
the strands until there was nothing left, and then
shear the rest off, just to prove that I could and
that I didn't care if I was ugly. As the stubble grew back,
I'd make shapes out of it, like hedge sculptures
resting flat on the surface of my scalp.
Then maybe I'd get some tattoos, peirce my
chin, smoke crack, hook up with the lead
singer of a heavy metal band and find
myself. Sometimes if you stare in the mirror
long enough, your face doesn't look like
your face anymore; a glue of skin congealed
over the shape of a bone. Like the way a word
stops making sense if you think about it too
much, a strange cluster of letters forced to
march in a line, I thought the hair would
work; the math made sense. the angle of
the cut met the cut of my jaw in a
Pythagoras of bedhead redhead glamour
puss. Math was never my best subject,
though. It's easier to stand in front of the
mirror, watching my face drift into
continents.

I reccommend a sweet little store called Sticky underground flinders station.
They have an amazing collection of zines.

re-decorating.

I'm redecorating my room.
I thought it was time for a change. That, and it was getting a little creepy. All these photos of myself everywhere, like I had to remind people of what I look like in general or when I'm out. I figure if you're standing in my house, let alone my room, you should have a pretty good idea of what I look/act like by now. I also made these wicket collages of photos from arctic monkeys, the kooks and big day out and I kind of wanted them to be the feature of the room. I'm a bit paranoid they're going to fall on my head while i'm sleeping but that's another story.
See this is what I do when I'm angry or upset, I get creative. So in order to put my lovely new artwork up I had to get rid of all the old shit, which i'm not overly gutted about because my ridiculous highschool attempts of becoming an "artist" were quite lame.
So I'm pulling the photo's off the wall.. stumbled across these winners

my god.
these were not only in my possession, but on the walls for people to see.
anyway i started re-decorating a couple of days ago and usually i'm pretty good with getting shit finished, but if i could take some pictures of my half finished wall and show you, you'd see that it is far from finished.
I read my horoscope yesterday and it was some bullshit about noah leaving dinosaurs behind on his boat thing because there was no room for them or something, basically it was telling me to decide if I need to leave the dinosaurs of my life behind.
Translation: Do I put up the photos of people who turned out to be utter fuckwits but as the photo's suggest, I had fucking wicked nights out with.
I dunno. I guess there's some issues with the people who I called mates that I haven't settled with. Or maybe I'm just to lazy to finish putting the photos up.
Anyway I'm going to sort out this week's new music.

Peace.

bonjour!

So I always thought the idea of blogging was a bit silly,
well not silly, I just never thought people would enjoy the things I have to say, because most of the blogs I read are utter shit and I apologize if mine comes under that catogory.
I always find my thoughts way to inconsistant for even me to understand, let alone other people.
Turns out I don't really have a choice though (thanks uni) so here I am, hello internet world.
I'm Belinda, almost everyone takes some form of abbreviation because clearly 3 syllables is way too much effort, the most popular nickname this year being Bella, feel free to call me whatever though.
According to strangers I lead a pretty interesting life, but I've always lived this way so for me this is the norm. From the weird guy at work who offers me money to buy my shoes so he can drink beer out of them, to my neighbourhood cat I converse with when I'm drunk, apprently my stories need to be shared.
Hopefully you'll get out of them what most people do, laughter and a sense of "thank fuck that didn't happen to me".
Adios for now,
Bella.
