Dear Child,

they're asking us to move.

A quick post, an update on a couple of new albums expected at the end of the year.
Saosin have announced that they'll be releasing their second LP, a follow up to the grey, that they released last year.
And, whilst we're on the subject of Saosin, Circa Survive have began recording their new album this month which is due out Septemberish this year.
Exciting ^_^
And! Arctic Monkeys have revealed the album art for Humbug, which I blogged about earlier :

I'm off to get tattood again now.
Check in later, for pictures and such.

The time has come, again

slowly walking down the steps.
To places that he'd been, if only they were seventeen.

So, it’s been a while. And I apologize. Apparently the very reason I started this blog is now thwarting my blogging and its very instance.
However, I come with lots and lots of lovely music news. A storage bank of beautiful gifts for you all.
I write this now, listening to Placebo’s Meds – classic album no doubt. But I think it’s good and healthy to re-visit past loved music. I’m not really talking about classics anymore, though. I’m talking more about guilty pleasures. Songs you know you probably shouldn’t be groovin’ along too, but simply can’t help yourself. My dear baby ipod is a little sick, perhaps it has caught the swine flu. But while it is ill, I have taken loan of my best friend’s ipod. Our music taste’s do not differ that much, but she is like a music hoarder. All those one hit wonders, random songs you loved when you were 14 and into r n’b (theoretically) you will find on her ipod. And so I bring your attention to Ja Rule. Oh Ja rule, murder inc. Who could forget you!? There is a particular song I was obsessed with when I was around the 15 yr old stage, Always on Time ft. Ashanti. So imagine my joy when I found this gem on her ipod! ^_^ - my face.

“C'mon and get a piece of this late-night lover
You know, the one that swing dick like no other” How I’ve missed the lyrical genius of Ja Rule. It get’s better though,
‘Thug style, you never thought I'd make you smile
While I'm smackin’ your ass and fuckin’ you all wild
[With Ashanti] But we share something’ so rare, but who cares, you care’.

WHAT A SONG. It actually doesn’t make sense. It’s like some bizarre gangster love song where Ja Rule constantly references how he drugs up other women and refers to his girlfriend and ‘bitch’. Charming.
So that’s what I’ve been doing with my time. Reacquainting myself with Ja Rule.

But Anyway! I promised I would have a storage bank of new music for you all to jump on and I’m not one to give an empty promise.
So here it goes:

Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest, this album took a while to grow on me, but if you were to download one track from the album, TWO WEEKS. It’s soft, and passionate and brilliant. This band has absolutely captured the sound of 09. I adore it.

Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse – Dark Night Of The Soul – AM-A-ZING. Standout track is definitely Little Girl ft. Julian Casablancas from the Strokes. It’s smart, and suave. Up until this point in time, I have been lacking in musical hunger. Like when you’re craving something and you don’t know what you want, and you’re not satisfied until you find that something, well this album is the something. It’s amazing.

Placebo – Battle For The Sun. Something to fill the satisfactory void. Not brilliant, but not bad. Album title track is the best off the album.

Red Riders – Ordinary & You’ve Got A Lot Of Nerve from Drown In Colour. Haven’t heard the entirety of the album yet, but am extremely excited because the two singles are quite good. You’ve got a lot of nerve is better than ordinary which is a little worrying because I patiently anticipated the brilliance of their last album Reptilia & was extremely disappointed, but their sound has matured, so we can only help their 2nd album has too.

NoFX – These guys are always good. Creepin’ out Sara is currently on repeat. Fucking hilarious song.

ARCTIC MONKEYS NEWS!!!!!!!!
Finally, the ever waiting bomb has been dropped! ‘Humbug’ is the title of their third album which is to be released August 24th. I am pretty fucking excited. Track listing is of this:
1. My Propeller
2. Crying Lightning
3. Dangerous Animals
4. Secret Door
5. Potion Approaching
6. Fire And The Thud
7. Cornerstone
8. Dance Little Liar
9. Pretty Visitors
10. The Jeweller’s Hands

The album will be available on CD, vinyl and via digital download.

And on a slightly unhappier note – new taking back Sunday actually sucks. I don’t want to harp on too much about it, because it actually hurts me to think about. I adored that band, but their new stuff is just lazy. And I’m not just saying it to be agreeable either. I give every band I listen to a chance, and I loved this band, they were a definitive part of my high school years, but holy shit. Adam’s vocals just seem to be pressing to the level of expectancy, there seems to be a lack between his mind & song. I can’t describe it. It just seems as if they pushed out an album because it was expected, and most of it is utter rubbish.

Lily Allen – The Forum, Melbourne.
So I was lucky enough to wrangle myself a ticket to her sold out show last night last minute. And I am so glad. Although I am battling sickness and debated whether I should leave my humble abode, I am ever so glad I did. And I was freaked out, because she is one of my idols, despite the fact I wasn’t overly impressed with ‘it’s not me, it’s you’ I still love her, and I had heard reports from all over the place that she is rubbish live and her shows are shit etc. Well the reports were on crack because honestly, it was brilliant. Cassette Kids were support, which is a shame, because despite the fact they looked absolutely fucking ridiculous with whatever look they were trying to put on, the lead singer sounded as if she had been taking singing lessons from drowning cats. My ears felt like bleeding after their set, but it was worth it for Lily. She was smiling and dancing and putting in her all, and she sounded quite good live, too. A bit disappointed with the lack of track appearances from ‘alright, still’, but she closed with some weird womanizer/day n’ nite cover and she was just perfect really. That, and she’s a massive babe. I doubt she could actually do too much wrong really. Perhaps I’m not the most open minded on the journalism front when it comes to Lily Allen.
I think that is all the news I have. Now that I am on holidays from that ridiculously expensive institution that is my university, the frequency in which I blog will be back up to speed!
