So anyone who has come within a 10 metre radius of me within the past 6 months will know of my obsession with the Inbetweeners.
It started when I made the transition from having foxtel since I was 8, to living out of home and not being able to justify spending money on Pay TV when I'm never at home, only to discover living close to the city gave me more time to watch TV, but there was nothing ever decent to watch.
The inbetweeners would always be on that channel 9 Go! channel at weird times on random weeknights and I was never able to catch consistent episodes to know what was going on. Whilst sleeping over at my best friend Emma's house, I was delighted to discover she had series one and two.
There are no words for me to describe how amazing this show is. I love dry wit, and the English do it so well. Up until the Inbetweeners, Skins had been my number one fave brit show for quite some time. MOVE OVER SKINS.
There's nothing even particularly clever about the story lines, but the characterisation of four misfit school boys is so amusing I have found myself re-watching all episodes on almost a daily basis.

GIRLS!
Whilst Meredith is on the brain, I thought I'd take the time out to talk about one of my new found loves, Girls.
They're a two piece from San Francisco, consisting of Christopher Owens and JR Chet. Chris writes the songs, JR does production.
Their album, aptly titled Album, is (as much as they shy away from the term) lo-fi. But it's effing good.
Chris also used to be apart of the Children Of God cult. His experiences with the cult, and ultimately breaking away from it, have been well documented in almost every interview with the band ever. He broke apart from the cult, discovered drugs and booze, found himself as an artist and here we are.
I was offered the opportunity to get some phone time with them to promo their up and coming "Non-EP", the 6 track Broken Dreams Club, which was released on November 19, as well as their trip down under.

This EP summary was done by a friend of mine, and SYN Music Director Jason Moore, and sums it up nicely.
I'll also attatch the audio from the un-edited phone interview I did with JR for New and Approved on SYN.
Lo-Fi isn't a dirty word. Just because it's 'trendy', doesn't mean that good lo-fi bands shouldn't be celebrated in their own right.
Album was released in 2009, and Broken Dreams Club differs from their initial lo-fi leanings, and floats more towards conscious production decisions and a smoother sound. It's a 'grower' but I'm keen to hear where they're going to take their sound.
Girls are in town for Meredith this weekend, and playing The Corner Hotel in Richmond on Friday night.

So I'm lucky enough to be working at the 20th Meredith Music Festival in Victoria this coming weekend.
What I'll actually be doing, I'm yet to find out.
But I am embarking on this mysterious employment journey with one of my BFF's, Chris Lewis and for the long road-trip, I thought it would be cool to take the opportunity to make a mixtape for the car.

Death Squad turned Prettie Indy
Soooo now I'm back on the interwebz, using my little fingers to blog away, I can document the life of my new band, Death Squad.
We're currently a 4 piece girl band, with a supposed boy drummer and babe guitarist, but we're trying to kick them out in favour of girl power.
Today was our first rehearsal, from the videos I'm about to post you will see our cover of Blondie's Call Me, who visited ol' Melbourne Town last week and played in my actual suburb, which is cool, as well as the 4 minute 'banter' video of us getting shit started, and ultimately the last 2 and a half minute video which features our original track "Rob's A Cock"
Now Rob's A Cock was inspired by a boy name Rob, who all members of our band studied music at RMIT with, fittingly enough. One day, whilst Ruby and I were working a mixing desk at the Tote Hotel in Collingwood, Melbourne, Rob told one of our school friends that he didn't trust girls behind the desk like he trusted dudes behind the desk. And hence this song was born.
Disclaimer - we don't actually think Rob is a cock. He obviously has a cock, as he is a boy, but he's a cool dude, and this is just our song.
So go forth, and enjoy Death Squad, which we have now changed to Prettie Indy, 'coz we're totez pretty, and indie, and ironic.

After a tumultuous year, which included going overseas, not getting into any uni courses, then being offered too many courses, then finally choosing a course and having to come home early, my best friend's mum dying, my dog dying, moving out of home, a certain boy and stepping on my computer while drunk and smashing it, I am back to blogging.
You may be asking yourself, why? It's been over a year belle, since you have graced the interwebz with your ever witty internet music blog, so why bother now?
Well my friends, to be quite frank, my friends don't really give a shit about the music I'm constantly telling them to listen to. But you, YOU my anonymous internet friend, YOU have no choice.
